LOOSENING OF MANDATORY MASK REQUIREMENT FOR ALL EMPLOYEES ANTICIPATED TO GO INTO EFFECT THURSDAY 6/17/21

By: Lisa Chapman, Esq.

Cal/OSHA recently adopted new rules which allow vaccinated employees to work unmasked at their workplaces. Unvaccinated employees will continue to be obligated to wear masks until further notice. Employers will continue to be obligated to document the vaccination status of all employees. Employers will be obligated to provide masks for all unvaccinated employees until the mask requirement for those employees is lifted. These rules will go into effect on June 28th.

Governor Newsome promised to expedite the implementation of these new rules by signing an executive order on June 17th.  If he honors that promise vaccinated employees will be able to work unmasked starting June 17th.
