More Filing Extensions for Storm Victims

If you have filing requirements in Illinois, Florida, New York or California, pay attention to these updates on deadline extensions due to disaster:

Illinois  – Victims of the July 25 and 28, 2022 Illinois severe storm and flooding, now have until February 15, 2023, to file various individual and business tax returns. For example, individuals who had a valid extension to file their 2021 return due on October 17, 2022, will now have until February 15, 2023, to file. However, if any tax payments related to their 2021 returns were due on April 18, 2022, then those payments are not eligible for this relief. Florida – Victims of Hurricane Nicole, now have until March 15, 2023, to file various individual and business tax returns and certain tax payments that were originally due between November 7, 2022, and March 15, 2023. Please check this IRS Announcement issued on December 23, 2022 for covered counties and more details and instructions.

New York – Victims of the November 18, 2022 New York severe winter storm and snowstorm, now have until March 15, 2023, to file various individual and business tax returns and certain tax payments that were originally due between November 18, 2022 and March 15, 2023. Victims of the December 23, 2022 New York severe winter storm, now have until April 18, 2023, to file various individual and business tax returns and certain tax payments that were originally due between December 23, 2022 and April 18, 2023.
